This posting will be used to fill 1 term, full-time positions working 75 hours bi-weekly.  It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

Population and Public Health, Evidence and Evaluation (PPHEE) team, part of the Innovation, Quality and Performance division, brings together a strong and coordinated team skilled at using data, local evidence and evaluation approaches to collaboratively support policy and decision making with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of all Yukoners, while ensuring effective and efficient services.

Your role

The Territorial Epidemiologist, as part of the Population and Public Health, Evidence and Evaluation Branch, provides essential support to the broader mandate of the Department. The position provides expertise in the appropriate analyses and interpretation of health and social data and identifies and pursues opportunities to improve data/ information systems links for multivariate analyses to examine comorbidities and complex social and health issues. The position also provides information to other departments and organizations that have a mandate in health, community wellness and public safety programs and services. The Territorial Epidemiologist will carry out epidemiological activities and surveillance initiatives in alignment with Branch priorities.

Essential qualifications 

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Master’s of Science Degree in Epidemiology or Public Health with an emphasis in epidemiology.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis as an epidemiologist.
  • Experience performing investigations in a population and public health context, including consideration of determinants of health and disease trends.
  • Experience designing, manipulating, and using databases for analysis of health problems.
  • Proficiency managing data and information while protecting privacy.
  • Experience with statistical software and related programs, such as R, IBM SPSS, Stata, Fluid Surveys, and MS Office software applications.
